We're turning the corner inside now - the Kitchen install started yesterday. This kitchen, by Prime Kitchens, will be a reason in itself to visit our Earlsbrook show home. Contact Matt if you'd like to arrange a sneaky peek anytime between now and opening...

19/03/26 - Slab poured. On this occasion we've opted for a concrete foundation, however the Foreverbreathe system also works extremely well with timber pile foundations.

01/04/26 - Frames up. Instead of traditional 'stick' timber framing, we use Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) for our Foreverbreathe spec. It's stronger, straighter and it's level of chemical treatment is less (better for occupants).

15/04/26 - Trusses on. Keep an eye on future updates to see how the roofline develops into its architectural design.

23/04/26 – Rigid Air Barrier (RAB) is being installed. RAB is used in place of building paper / wrap on the outside of the frames. It provides strength, enhances airtightness, and because we use Magnum Board as a RAB, it provides fire and water resistance as well as breathability – important to the Foreverbreathe specification. Magnum Board is completely non-toxic.

06/05/26 – Roof on. Although mono-pitch roofs are often seen as a modern trend, they are actually a celebrated part of New Zealand’s architectural DNA. For decades, this silhouette has allowed Kiwi homes to capture more sun and create the dramatic, airy interiors that South Architects have mastered here.

06/07/26 – We’re now ready to install the Magnum Board linings – remember there’s no GIB wallboard in this home at all. Windows are in, electrics are installed and of course, the Terra Lana sheep’s wool insulation is snugly in place.

16/07/26 – Cladding is beginning to go on. This cladding is Earthen Plus - a pine thermally modified to EN335 durability class 1 - stability for exposed locations and harsh climatic conditions. Our secondary cladding will be Oamaru Stone

06/08/26 -Did you take a second look?

No, our colour consultant hasn’t gone completely out there and no, as far as we know, interior zebra stripes aren’t a thing. We use special stopping compounds for Magnum Board because it’s so different to GIB.

24/09/26 . While painting is taking place inside, finishing work to the cladding is being done outside. Our cladding is primarily 'Earthen Plus' - thermally treated pine from Health Based Building. The secondary cladding is Oamaru stone.

We adore our house Premium Homes built for us in Castle Hill Village. In our search for a building company that could build in a remote location at a high elevation and wind zone, Premium Homes caught our eye with their Healthy Homes building philosophy. They exceed expectations creating a healthier, stronger and more energy efficient house. We were excited by the use of wool insulation and magnum board (in place of fiberglass and Gib) and it has proven its worth in reducing noise, keeping the air clean and feeling fresh and the house breathes not getting too hot nor too cold. Premium Homes were able to effectively go through the build process whilst we were in Australia during COVID times and unable to visit site. No corners were cut and any issues and decision making requirements were communicated and dealt with effectively. When we saw the completed build for the first time it was with some well earned awe at the quality of build and craftsmanship, all the little details that couldn’t be captured in photos were realised and we learned how lucky we were to have chosen Premium Homes. Castle Hill

We planned to build a healthy home based on the ancient Indian science of home building (Vastu Sastra), with modern NZ specs, and of course within a budget! Premium Homes met all our requirements. During the very early stages when we lived out of town we were guided through the whole process, from planning to final hand-over.

Groundwork began two days ahead of our timeline and from there construction progressed quickly, with the team making sure all the Vastu aspects were carried out with utmost attention to detail. As with any construction process, we wanted to improvise a few things impromptu. Premium Homes provided insight and were flexible to accommodate these changes. It is also important to emphasise that Premium Homes have a very impressive line-up of sub-contractors, who were friendly and proficient.

Having moved in, the COVID-19 lockdown was a great opportunity to evaluate the performance of the house, and we came to appreciate the workmanship and the healthy aspects of the house.

Overall, when the builders treat your dream project as theirs, the end result is remarkable. The team at Premium Homes are a trustworthy lot.
